The first year is full of amazing growth. I was shocked when I heard about this sweet boy's birth - a surprise, early arrival while mom was at a wedding. He's come a long way from the tiny peanut he was and has grown into the most handsome toddler. While not the biggest fan of his cake, he did enjoy (quickly) playing in it... and making sure mom left covered in cake as well. Happy Birthday buddy!

Another one of my babies turned one and I'm always shocked at how quickly that first year goes.

He started out slow, but once he realized mom and dad didn't care, he dug right in! Happy Birthday little man!

She was my first newborn of 2017 and my first smasher of 2018. This baby wins the award for the most animated cake smasher. Enjoy...

Messiest Cake Smasher | Downtown Charleston, SC 1st Birthday Milestone Session

I met this family bright and early for a session full of baby snuggles and cake eating in celebration of this little guy's first birthday. As soon as I pulled my camera out, he flashed me the best smile and I knew this was going to be a good session.

This was such a sweet family. It was apparent from the beginning of the session just how much they love each other- and how obsessed they are with their baby! And it turns out that our husbands work together and we have a few mutual friends. It's funny how small the world is!

We walked around Downtown Charleston and hit the "hot spots"- Rainbow Row and Waterfront Park- and then headed to White Point Gardens for some cake.

You would never know from the pictures, but K didn't actually eat any cake! He might win the title for "Messiest Cake Smasher Who Didn't Actually Eat Any Cake." He loved running his hands through the cake though.

K, I hope you have a wonderful dinosaur birthday party and that year #2 is full of many wonderful memories!

Pastel Cake Smash Cake

The colors of this cake smash have me smitten. I found this paper flower garland right before we moved and had it stashed away for the perfect session. We decided that a simple white backdrop and a little pop of color would be adorable.

I strongly believe that I am commissioned to take your pictures of your child. Therefore, I will never post pictures without written permission.

Do you have a little one with an upcoming birthday? Let's chat about planning your little one's cake smash and splash session!

The cake that was just too pretty to eat. Either that or she was totally grossed out by it. My husband and son didn't seem to have any problem with it.

Whenever I get an inquiry about a cake smash I get excited.  When I got an email about photographing not one, but two baby's first birthday smash I'm pretty sure I said, "YES!!!" out loud at my computer!  Two little ones eating cake at the same time, sign me up!

We started the session with some portraits. Even big sister got to jump in for a few, which the boys were a little unsure about. Poor Finn was actually a little unsure about the entire process, but Larsen came in ready for his close up. Finn finally warmed up to the camera a little when the cakes came out and sat quietly eating his cake. Larsen was still his crazy self and even tried some iceskating in his cake icing - which ended with him sitting on his brother's cake.

By the end of the session, everyone was blue (mom and dad included!) and everyone's tummy hurt from laughing so hard.
