First Look | Yellow and Pink Newborn Session | West Ashley Newborn Photographer

I can't wait to go through more of these pictures, but here is a quick look at little Miss L. She is the light of her parent's world and she was so good to me this morning.

When Hurricane Matthew decided to show up in Charleston the same weekend as this little girl's due date, we were all a little nervous. This family happens to be some of our really good friends so we invited them to evacuate to Columbia, South Carolina with us. Day after day we watched the storm coverage. Morning after morning we asked Pam if she felt different. All I could think was that my friend was going to bring her baby "home" to my in-law's house. Though it all, Pam remained at peace that God would protect them.

As soon as the storm moved through and the roads were passable, they quickly hit the road back home. Thank the Lord they did - Pam went into labor that night! They welcomed baby L on Sunday afternoon, 24 hours after Hurricane Matthew passed through Charleston.

This little darling just turned 1! I will always have a special place in my heart for this family. Her mom was my (amazing!!!) nurse when I delivered Landon, I did her daughter's First 48 and newborn pictures and now they live in the same house we did while in WA! Oh, and not to mention that they are just a super sweet family in general.

He thought he came to a nursing and snuggle play date, but I usually win. And because he's a good sport he flashed me the cutest smile of all time. Welcome to the world, E!

A Birthday Story | Kitsap Birth Photographer

I always call my husband to let him know I'm leaving a birth. Naturally, he always asks me how it went. This time I didn't even wait for him to ask. I immediately said, "Whoa! How do women do that? How did I do that? Birth is intense! Birth is so awesome!!!!!"

Late Saturday night I got a text from this momma saying "I'm in labor! I'll let you know". All night I sat up waiting for the "It's time!" text that never came. Morning came and I got a text from the midwife saying she was progressing but slowly. I kept telling my husband I hope it speeds up for her because I knew how important a natural delivery was. Finally, the, "you should head this way text" dinged on my phone. I grabbed my stuff (did I shower while I was waiting? Of course not.) and bolted out the door towards Port Townsend.

Mom really wanted a completely natural, hospital free birth. Unfortunately, she did have to move to a hospital, but they staff were really good about keeping her birth-plan as intact as possible. It was amazing to witness the pains of labor and a midwife coaching momma through the contracting, repeating positive mantras in her ear.

Simplicity | Bremerton Newborn Photographer

During the Newborn Retreat, a guest photographer spoke on natural newborn photography. I gasped and ran to show my husband. It was so simple yet took my breath away.

While I had already started taking steps to strip down my newborn sessions, I am so excited to embrace this mindset and simply my work!

Oh, and can we talk about this boy's hair?
